Screen Wars …

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

IFP Phoenix has a show on AZ TV at 11PM showing aspiring and other film makers short films. Most are about 3 to 5 minutes in length. I looked through many of them today and it seems that those shorts dealing with killing get a lot of votes! Many are pretty gruesome :O ! Many had some great plot twists. I did watch one about 911 that was very moving. I plan to watch the show on February 28, 2007. I enjoy watching these short films and seeing how the film makers ideas come through. If you watch and want to vote, you need to be a member if IFP Phoenix or IFP.

Reading Others’ Screen Scenes . . .

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

I spent part of the day today reading other screenwriters’ scenes. It was a very interesting experience. I don’t know the level of experience these people have so I won’t comment on them or give my opinion of what I read. Some were good, others so-so (IMHO only). I do plan to go to some screenwriting classes so I can write better myself. The organization - www.ifpphoenix.org - offers classes. They also have something called “Screen Wars” - where aspiring and experienced film makers show their stuff and the members vote .. more on that in another post.

My First Film!

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

This is a very short film I made from the Phoenix Indie Film Group meeting today. I used my Canon PowerShot camera to video, edited it in Canon’s Zoom Browzer, then pulled it into Windows Movie Maker to add the title and credits. The transition between those two doesn’t look the best to me on my screen though.

Anyway, take a look if you’d like: Phoenix Indie Film Group

Went to a garden party … not really but,

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

February, 24, 2007 - I did go to a meeting of the Phx. Indie Film Group. I decided to attend to first see what was going on in the world of film in Phoenix — and second, to see if it was the group for me. I found this meeting online at Meetup.com. I thought I was out there by myself but to my surprise there is a whole filming world out there in Phoenix. Lots of people have the same interests as I do. And the energy is amazing. The meeting was full and everyone was enthusiastic about the future of this new group.

We all introduced ourselves and to my surprise there were quite a few screenwriters, aspiring like me and accomplished, at the meeting. Someone was also trying to set up a screenwriters group as well. I think a screenwriters group would be good to push each other along.

All in all, the meeting was very informative and fun. I will attend the next one and hope to meet more people. Until then ….

Blog Launch

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

I’m launching this Blog in hopes that I might use it to move me forward in my screenwriting. I’m in the middle of three screenplays right now - all in different stages. I come back to them periodically and need to finish at least one in the near future. I have so many screenplay and/or movie ideas - its hard to keep on just one. Of the three I’m working on right now, I’ve got the outline, character, and scenes done for all of them - plus many pages written. Writing in this blog will move me forward to finish at least one or all of my screenplays - I hope.
